Sean Choong, MMIA
National President - Elected Director (SA)

Sean graduated in 2005 from the University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor Degree in Marketing and Finance. He completed the Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice in 2016 from Victoria University and has worked as a Registered Migration Agent since June 2017. Sean migrated from Malaysia to Adelaide in 2014 and was elected as SA Branch President in October 2023 where he was also appointed as National Treasurer and then Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee. In November 2025 Sean was elected National President of the MIA. Sean has also held leadership roles within the Malaysian community in South Australia and is actively engaged with the local community.
Christine Morgan
Vice President - Appointed Director

Christine Morgan has extensive governance and management experience, Her career has spanned 15 years as General Counsel / Company Secretary of ASX listed companies, business strategy and development at a large telecommunications company, followed by 15 years working in the not for profit sector and government in CEO roles. Christine has recently returned to law and is a Director of Australian Migration Law. She also serves as Deputy Chair at Ravenswood School, is a Director of Open Dialogue Centre and sits on Risk, Nominations and Research & Impact Committees for those organisations.
Ahmad Shady
Elected Director (NSW/ACT)

Ahmad holds a Bachelor of Computer Science from Ain Shams University (2003) and a Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice from the ANU (2015). He is also a current Honours candidate in Computer Science at UNE. Prior to joining the migration advice profession, Ahmad’s professional background included IT and Management Consulting. Ahmad became a Registered Migration Agent in September 2015 and has served the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) in several capacities. This includes serving on the NSW/ACT State Branch Committee (2019-2025) and the Skilled Visa Advisory Panel (2023-Present), as well delivering hundreds of hours of CPD workshops as a CPD author and educator (2020-Present). Ahmad was elected to the national board as the Director for NSW/ACT in 2025.
Jamie Lingham
Elected Director (VIC/TAS)

Jamie Lingham is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Absolute Immigration Group, with over 24 years’ experience leading strategic immigration and global mobility initiatives across Australia and New Zealand. He specialises in delivering strategic immigration solutions, workforce planning, labour agreements, compliance, advocacy, corporate and managing significant clients across multiple industries. Jamie is passionate about strengthening professional standards, shaping immigration policy and promoting ethical, innovative practices within the profession. He brings deep industry insight, business leadership, and a strong client-focused perspective to the MIA Board.
Rebecca Macmillan
Elected Director (QLD/NT)

Rebecca Macmillan holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Southern Queensland and a Master of Migration Law and Practice from Griffith University. She has practised in migration law since 2007 and has been recognised in the Doyle’s Guide as a Leading Immigration Lawyer in 2023, 2024, and 2025. Rebecca served as the QLD/NT Branch Secretary from October 2023 to November 2025.
Jasmin Angel
Elected Director (WA)

Jasmin holds a Bachelor of Laws from Murdoch University as well as a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice. She has worked as a migration lawyer since 2019 and is a Practice Leader at a law firm in Perth. Jasmin was elected as the WA National Board Director in November 2025.
Mowen Lee
Appointed Director

Mowen is senior risk management, internal audit and governance leader who loves bringing clarity to problems and leading teams to solve them. Mowen has extensive experience across the insurance and reinsurance industry and has held a various lead-ership and consulting roles at Hannover Re, QBE Insurance, Victorian Managed Insur-ance Authority and EY. He has also held various directorships across the not-for-profit sector. Mowen has worked and studied across Australia, Germany, and the UK. He has an MBA from Melbourne Business School, is qualified as a Chartered Accountant of Australia and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Mellisa Gillies
Appointed Director

Mellisa holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management, a Bachelor of Arts from the Victorian College of Arts, Melbourne University, and governance qualifications through the Australian Institute of Company Directors. A strategist, business leader, commercial global marketer, brand custodian, communications expert, and digital expert in Australia, and international markets. Leadership, management, and governance experience in corporations, Not-for-Profits, and Associations in Australia, China, and Asia-Pacific, and global roles from Australia and Asia. Recognised Asia capability, international experience, and a global perspective.
