Proposed MIA Constitutional Changes

Content

Over the last few months, the Constitutional Change Advisory Panel in consultation with the CEO and the National Board, has been working on a number of proposed changes to the MIA’s Constitution.  The proposed changes will see a new structure for the MIA Board with the direct election of Elected Directors from the membership base (rather than the Branch Presidents automatically becoming Board Members), and increased involvement of the members in the selection of Appointed Directors.

The proposed changes will also allow the MIA National Board to be more aligned with a skills-based selection of Directors and allow the Branch Presidents to concentrate more of their time on supporting the members in their Branch.

To explain these changes and address any questions you may have, we invite you to an information session (choice of two dates) with Reuben Saul (National President) and Helen Duncan (CEO). The sessions will be recorded and made available to those unable to attend. The changes will be voted on at the AGM in October 2024.

Schedule

Tuesday, 20 August 2024
1:00pm - 2:00pm AEST (Sydney time)

Presenters:

Reuben Saul MMIA
National President and WA Branch President

Helen Duncan LMMIA
Interim CEO at the Migration Institute of Australia
