Emerging Talent Award

 

This Award recognises emerging professionals who have been working in the field of migration for at least 3 years. In this time, they will have made a significant contribution to the profession and will have demonstrated both quality and effectiveness in their work.

Contributions may include evidence of leadership in professional activities or substantial accomplishments in their work and voluntary activities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this award, nominated individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be an MIA voting member (e.g. Commercial RMA, Legal Practitioner, Non Commercial RMA, or Non Commercial Legal Practitioner)
  • Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in the field of migration

Selection Criteria

Selection for this award is based on the nominee meeting some or all of the following:

  • Excellence in Migration Practice:
    Demonstrates outstanding performance and skill in migration-related work.

  • Professionalism and Ethical Conduct:
    Exhibits exceptional professionalism and ethical behavior, distinguishing themselves from peers.

  • Innovation in Practice:
    Shows creativity and introduces innovative approaches that advance migration practice.

  • Significant Contribution:
    Engages in activities beyond standard practice, such as pro-bono work or advocacy, that benefit the profession and community.

  • Impactful Achievements:
    Has made notable contributions that positively affect the profession, colleagues, or clients.

  • Skill Development:
    Displays ongoing development of skills through dedication and persistence.

  • Consistent Excellence:
    Maintains a high level of achievement, supported by awards, scholarships, or other recognitions, and effectively applies their skills.

Nomination Process

To apply for the Emerging Talent Award, follow these steps:

  1. Download: Download the nomination form here.
  2. Nominate: Complete the form as a self-nomination or third-party nomination.
  3. Submit: Email your application to [email protected] by the closing deadline of Sunday, 19 July 2025.
  4. Late submissions will not be considered.

Selection Process

  1. Nominations will be reviewed and assessed by an expert panel based on the eligibility and selection criteria.
  2. Successful nominations are then submitted to the MIA Board for consideration and resolution.
  3. Nominees will be notified of the results.
