Types of Membership

The Migration Institute of Australia membership year runs from 1 July to 30 June. Pro rata membership fees are available to people joining after August each year. 

All fees and charges are in Australian dollars (AUD).

Membership types - for Registered Migration Agents (RMAs)

Member (commercial)

• Category for RMAs who work as a sole trader or in a practice with less than five (5) agents on staff
• $400 + gst for 12 month membership (pro rata fees available)
• $200 + gst for new agents (initial registration in the last 18 months) 
• $55 joining fee applies

Member (non commercial)

• Category for RMAs who are registered as a non-fee charging agent with the Office of the MARA
• $100 + gst for 12 month membership

Organisation (commercial)

• Category for commercial migration practices with five (5) or more agents on staff
• All eligible staff required to take up membership for discount to be applied
• Subscriptions transferable in the event of staffing changes
• 5+ $320/RMA, 10+ $280/RMA, 20+ $240/RMA, 30+ $200/RMA (+ gst)

Organisation (non commercial)

• Category for community legal centres, not for profit organisations, multicultural resource centres etc with five (5) or more agents on staff
• All eligible staff required to take up membership for discount to be applied
• Subscriptions transferable in the event of staffing changes
• 5+ $80/RMA, 10+ $70/RMA, 20+ $60/RMA, 30+ $50/RMA (+ gst)

Membership types - affiliate categories

Student subscriber

• Category for those enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in Australian Migration Law and Practice or relevant masters program / law degree
• Free subscription whilst enrolled in relevant tertiary course

Support staff

• Category for those working as support staff for RMAs
• Application must be accompanied by a supporting letter from the RMA stating the reasoning for affiliation
• $100 + gst for 12 month membership

Academic

• Category available for academics and educators working in the field of migration research, economics, sociology, politics and law
• $100 + gst for 12 month membership
