In addition, our server logs the following information: the date and time of your visit; and the address of the pages accessed and the documents downloaded.

All of this information is used only for statistical analysis or systems administration purposes. No attempt will be made to identify users or their browsing activities, except in the unlikely event of an investigation where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant.

Online payments & bookings

Online payments are now available on the MIA website for MIA membership and student subscription applications. Online payments will soon be available on the MIA website for goods such as books, DVDs, other resources and merchandise; MIA membership renewals; bookings for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities; and conferences and other special events.

Online payments facilities will be introduced in stages during 2009.

All fees and charges are in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST where it applies. The MIA accepts online credit card payments made by Visa and MasterCard only.

Each online payment will be issued an electronic receipt.

We usually ship goods via Australia Post within two business days of your credit card payment approval. If, for any reason, we cannot dispatch your order, we will notify you within two business days.

We do not charge postage and handling fees for goods shipped within Australia. We do charge a postage and handling fee of $10 (AUD10) for goods shipped overseas.

If you would like to collect goods you have ordered in person from the MIA National Office in Sydney, please contact us by telephone, fax or email to confirm a suitable collection time.

Online membership applications are usually processed within 10 working days after credit card payments are cleared and eligibility for membership is verified. Membership kits and certificates for new members are posted soon after.

Online membership renewals are usually processed within five working days after credit card payments are cleared and eligibility for continuing membership is verified. Certificates for renewing members are posted soon after.

Online bookings for CPD activities and special events are usually processed within three working days after credit card payments are cleared.

The MIA aims to process all orders, applications and bookings promptly - so you may receive an earlier response than indicated above. If, for any reason, we cannot provide one of these services, we will notify you within two business days.

Refunds, credits & returns

In accordance with fair trading laws in New South Wales and Australia, the MIA will refund or replace (our option) any item that arrives in damaged condition, provided that we are notified immediately upon delivery.

We will not issue a refund simply because you change your mind about the purchase.

Please contact us by email, telephone or fax to inform us about damaged goods before returning them. If you are seeking a refund, we may ask you to provide a written statement saying why you believe you should receive a refund and confirming that goods returned are in the same condition as you received them.

If you cancel a conference or special event booking, the MIA will not usually provide refunds for cancellations within three days of the conference or special event. However, you may nominate someone else to attend in your place.

If you cancel a booking for a face-to-face CPD activity in writing at least five days before that activity, you are entitled to a refund or credit note.

If you are unhappy with the content of a CPD activity or could not attend that activity due to illness or other unforeseen circumstance, you may be eligible for a refund or credit note - at the discretion of the MIA.

In the case of electronic or online CPD activities, if you are unhappy with the course content, unable to access the software through your computer, or unable to complete the course within the required time, you may be eligible for a refund, credit note or extension of time - at the discretion of the MIA.
