Nick Poynder is a Sydney-based barrister. He is originally from Tasmania where he studied at the University of Tasmania and was admitted to practice in 1984. He moved to Melbourne in 1986 and was admitted to the Victorian Bar in September 1990.
Nick moved to Sydney at the end of 1992 to work as Coordinator of the Refugee Advice & Casework Service, then from 1995-1998 he worked as a Senior Legal Officer with the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission.
Nick joined the NSW Bar in 1998. His practice is in administrative law, primarily migration and anti-discrimination. He is also a registered migration agent and appears at all levels, from the AAT, MRT and RRT through to the High Court.
