Jacqui Ure, the current WA State President of the MIA, completed the Victorian University of Technology - Migration Law course in 1998 after confronting difficult issues with migration while working in the resources sector. She established Open Door Migration in 2003 to address a perceived need for a specialist migration service focused on the sector. It is now one of the larger independently owned practises in WA. Jacqui’s long association with the resources industry has seen her live and work in Aberdeen and London in the UK, Muscat in Oman, Kuala Belait in Brunei and now Perth in Western Australia. She has in-depth knowledge and firsthand experience of the migration issues peculiar to the resources sector and to those pertaining to associated family migration issues. Jacqui is a founder share holder of AWT International, a Perth based Petroleum Engineering consultancy, and has sat on a variety of boards for not-for-profit organisations including The International Business Council and the Australian British Chamber of Commerce in Perth.
