MIA Member Appointed to Review Tribunals

The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship has announced the appointment of 43 Members to the Migration Review Tribunal (MRT) and the Refugee Review Tribunal (RRT).

We extend our warmest congratulations to MIA member Suhad Kamand who is one of 12 new appointments to the Tribunals. Ms Kamand has been Director and Principal Solicitor of IARC for the last 6 years and says,

"IARC is a wonderful organisation and essential to ensuring access and equity in Australia’s migration program. I look forward to hearing of IARC’s continued good work in the future. I also look forward to bringing the knowledge I have gained over the years to my new role as a member of the MRT/ RRT, and to experiencing Australian immigration and refugee law from a different perspective."

Tribunal members have been appointed for five years, starting on 1 July 2009.
