I'm a Member because...
Membership of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA) is more than just a number. It's about being professional. It's about being up to date. It's about having the latest information at your fingertips as it happens. It's about being part of the MIA community.
Show your pride at being a Member, like your colleagues below. Use your post nominals on your business card, promote your membership using the Member of the Migration Institute of Australia logo on your website, join a Special Interest Group or a Policy Committee or register with the MIA Young Professionals.
Contact the MIA team to find out how you can be more involved in your professional association.

Over and above other organisations, the MIA is a truly professional association operating for the benefit of its members as opposed to being a marketing vehicle to promote corporate profits or personal agendas. I find it a collaborative environment to share my skills and experience with other professionals because of my belief that we should be striving to be held in the highest professional regard by our peers and by the public. Public behaviour speaks volumes - I am proud to be a member of an organisation that values transparency in administration, courtesy between members and high standards of professional behaviour.

As a member of nearly twenty years standing, I’ve found the MIA's professional support and networking opportunities extremely beneficial. Membership has also proved invaluable for ensuring the latest information on government policy and legislative changes, as well as ensuring a strong industry voice.

As a sole trader, I find the opportunity to network with like-minded colleagues helps me feel a part of the bigger professional community. Through my membership, I am able to participate and seek advice through the active online forum and contribute through the Special Interest Group focusing on the Indian Subcontinent. I feel privileged to be a part of such a professional and well recognised organisation.

I am so proud to be an Associate Fellow of the MIA. The quality of the MIA seminars and conference are the best, and the most experienced migration experts are always sharing their knowledge with other members. The membership fee that I pay represents true value - it's all about professionalism.

Being a Canberra based agent, I was working in isolation from the main players in the field when I started out in the profession – so I joined the MIA because I wanted the ability to call on the collective wisdom of other more experienced agents. Today, I remain a Member because I want to belong to the profession’s peak body so that I can assist new agents, obtain advice from colleagues and participate in CPD activities and networking events.

As Migration Agents it is important that we not only are, but that we are truly recognised as professionals. The MIA supports us in this goal in so many ways. I have been a member now for more than twenty years and have benefited
from the support, the CPD, the representation on our behalf, and of course, the many friendships that it has generated. The MIA provides us with a collective voice on issues and to government. The MIA membership is simply part of being a good
Migration Agent. I strongly recommend membership and active participation – you will get back more than you put in. It is important to all us of in the profession that we support our Institute to support us in these goals.
