The PRP is a practical and highly interactive program designed to equip registered migration agents in their first year with the relevant skills and knowledge to practice as a migration agent. It is delivered by the Institute in practice-oriented workshop-style sessions in two formats - staggered (over 3.5 days) and intensive (over 5 days).
Learning Outcomes:
This course will assist you to:
- Understand the compliance requirements imposed by the Code of Conduct
- Understand the obligations associated with managing an immigration practice
- Undertake legal research to determine appropriate outcomes for clients
- Assess clients against immigration law and policy
- Liaise with clients, including ascertaining facts and information from clients and delivering advice to clients
- Capably manage immigration files in compliance with the Code of Conduct

Dates of course:
The Practice Ready Program runs over three full days from 9:00am - 5:00pm and one half day (either AM or PM - students will be allocated a time for their mock hearing during the workshop). The dates of the workshops are:
- Friday 22 February
- Friday 1 March
- Friday 8 March
- Friday 15 March (mock hearing)
CPD Points
This program is worth eight (8) core CPD points. This includes the four (4) mandatory points that must be completed within an agent's first year of practice of Accounts Management, File Management, Ethics and Professional Practice and Business Management.
Paying by instalment
The MIA offers agents the opportunity to pay for the PRP in four instalments of $500. The first payment must be made with registration to secure your place and final payment received prior to your attendance at the last day of the course. Your participation in the PRP will not be regarded as complete until payment is provided in full.
