ABSTRACTS

Abstracts will be considered for the Migration 2013 Conference until Wednesday 15 May 2013. Proposals should relate to the Conference theme Migration Shaping Australia, fit within the areas of interest below and be relevant to delegates, including migration agents and lawyers, academics and government officers.

  • Abstracts up to 300 words must be submitted to the MIA by Wednesday 15 May 2013
  • All prospective speakers must be available to present at any time on Monday 21 October or Tuesday 22 October 2013 in Canberra
  • Presentations are generally allotted 25-35 minutes, depending on program placement

AREAS OF INTEREST

As this year’s theme of Migration Shaping Australia is fairly open ended, the MIA asks that prospective presenters submit abstracts related to one or more of the following topic areas:

  • Industry and Migration: Australian services, eg higher education, tourism and resources
  • Economy and Labour Markets: Economic impacts, and demography and population
  • Humanitarian Policy: Natural justice, social research and asylum seekers
  • Temporary and Permanent Migration: Selecting migrants, skills needs and Family visas
  • Migration Practice: Health and wellbeing, workplace issues and professional concerns
  • International and Regional Agreements: eg, RCF/Bali Process, PSWPS/SWP, WHV(462)

KEY DATES

  • 15 May 2013: Abstract and biography submissions close
  • 14 June 2013:  Authors notified of acceptance
  • 20 September 2013: Presentation and / or paper submitted to the MIA
